In the Fall of 2018, the CRD proposed a new "community safety" bylaw that would ask Salt Springers to agree to a new tax to raise funds to promote a variety of safety initiatives, specifically in response to recent issues of vandalism in Ganges. The Alliance hosted a community meeting to explore the issue, prior to the counter-petition voting process.
